Facilities & Equipment

We like to stay on top of all the changing technology that is used in podiatric medicine.  Laser therapy is one of the most common ways we treat many conditions.  We have added K-laser therapy to treat chronic pain and thickened nails.

We use a diagnostic ultrasound machine, which is a cost-effective way to show problems not only in the bones, but in the soft tissue as well.

On-Site Shoe Showroom

At our North Andover location, we offer an on-site shoe showroom.  Each pair of shoes offered has our personal stamp of approval.  Here you can find specialty shoes for diabetic foot care, walking shoes, sneakers, and even fashionable shoes.  Every single pair is able to fit orthotics, braces, and to accommodate foot deformities.  We make sure that each shoe is fitted perfectly to your foot, even if that means one size is different from the other. Here, you can have your feet measured before ordering your pair of shoes.

Common Foot Pain Our Lowell Foot Doctor Treats

Achilles Tendon Care

The Achilles tendon is a vital component of your lower extremities. It connects your calf muscles to your heel bone, facilitating your ability to walk, run, and perform various activities. However, it is susceptible to injury due to overuse or trauma. If you’re experiencing discomfort, pain, or restricted movement in your Achilles tendon, we have the expertise to assess and treat your condition. Our podiatrist is skilled in providing tailored care to alleviate pain and restore the function of this critical tendon.

Ankle Sprain Treatment

Ankle sprains can be debilitating if not addressed promptly and effectively. These injuries often result from unnatural twisting or excessive force on the ankle bones, leading to ligament stretching or tearing. Neglecting proper treatment can lead to long-term issues and chronic instability. At Lowell Podiatrist Dr. Wachtel , we specialize in diagnosing and treating ankle sprains. Our team will evaluate the extent of the injury and develop a personalized treatment plan to expedite your recovery, ensuring your ankle returns to its full functionality.

Bunions: Alleviating Discomfort

Bunions are a common source of foot pain and discomfort. They develop when the big toe joint becomes misaligned, causing swelling and tenderness. If left untreated, they can lead to the big toe slanting outward, causing discomfort when walking or wearing shoes. Our podiatrist is skilled in addressing bunions. We will assess your condition, and if necessary, we can recommend treatments such as custom orthotics, minimally invasive procedures, or surgical intervention to restore your foot’s health and comfort.

Comprehensive Care for Flat Feet

Flat feet are a common condition, and it’s important to recognize that they can occur at any age. While they are normal in infants and toddlers, adults with flat feet may experience discomfort and reduced mobility. Lowell Podiatrist Dr. Wachtel provides comprehensive care for flat feet. Our experienced podiatrist will conduct a thorough evaluation and recommend treatment options to address your specific needs. We can offer custom orthotics and footwear suggestions to support the arch and enhance your foot’s biomechanics.

Diabetes and Foot Health

If you have diabetes, proper foot care is crucial! Diabetes can lead to reduced blood flow and slow wound healing, making even minor foot injuries a significant concern. Lowell Podiatrist Dr. Wachtel is well-versed in diabetic foot care. We understand the importance of regular check-ups, early intervention, and prevention for diabetic patients. Our team will help you manage your foot health, providing guidance on proper footwear, wound care, and addressing any potential issues promptly.

Heel Pain Relief

Heel pain, often attributed to plantar fasciitis, can be debilitating. It is typically associated with inflammation on the bottom of the foot. Our practice specializes in evaluating and addressing arch pain and heel discomfort. We may recommend customized shoe inserts known as orthoses, which can significantly alleviate pain and improve your overall foot comfort. If you’re suffering from persistent heel pain, Lowell Podiatrist Dr. Wachtel is here to help you regain pain-free mobility.

Corns and Calluses Management

Corns and calluses are protective layers of compacted, dead skin cells. They are typically caused by friction, either from skin rubbing against bony areas or irregularities in footwear. Corns often form on toes, while calluses are common on the soles of the feet. Our podiatrists offer effective treatment for corns and calluses. We can safely remove these uncomfortable growths and provide guidance on preventing their recurrence. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities.

Overcoming Hammertoes

Hammertoes are a deformity of the second, third, or fourth toes, resembling a hammer due to bending at the middle joint. If left untreated, hammertoes can become rigid and may require surgical correction. At our practice, we specialize in hammertoe management. Our team will assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan. We offer both conservative and surgical solutions, ensuring you regain comfort and mobility in your toes.
