A bunion and a bunionette are both bumps found on the toes that can cause a lot of toe pain. Bunions are found on the large toe and are classified as a deformity because they change the way the bone is shaped. They cause the joint to jut outward, which in turn causes a bump on the inside of the foot. This creates a problem because this protrusion can be difficult to fit into shoes, especially ones that are tight and narrow.A bunionette is a bump on the side of the little toe. It’s very similar to a bunion in that it can be irritated by footwear. Treating both of them usually involves shoe inserts or medication to help with any pain or discomfort. Ultimately, only surgery can make them go away and there is always the risk that they will return.
