Laser Treatments Q&A

What are laser treatments in podiatry?

Laser treatments are a non-invasive and painless way to effectively treat podiatric conditions. Dr. Wachtel and his team offer K-Laser® therapy, which uses light energy to induce therapeutic effects, such as decreasing swelling, improving circulation, enhancing tissue repair, and providing pain relief.

What are common types of conditions that laser treatments can help with?

Tendonitis & Achilles’ tendon injury

Tendonitis is any inflammation affecting your body, while an Achilles’ tendon injury is often caused by overuse. Using the tendon repeatedly can cause tiny tears in the tissue, which can lead to inflammation and prolonged pain or soreness.

K-Laser therapy can help relieve symptoms such as the dull-aching sensation, stiffness, and burning feeling that you might experience with tendonitis or an Achilles’ tendon injury.

Neuroma

A neuroma is a painful condition that usually develops between the third and fourth toes and is a benign growth of nerve tissue that causes painful symptoms.

You might benefit from laser treatment if you experience a burning sensation, tingling, or numbness between your toes and in the ball of the foot.

Plantar fasciitis

The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes. When this tissue becomes inflamed, it can result in heel pain and tissue swelling.

These symptoms can be treated with K-Laser therapy to bring fast relief.

Arthritis

Arthritis in the feet can lead to tissue inflammation that causes chronic pain and limited mobility in the affected joints.

K-Laser therapy can help treat the inflammation, stiffness, swelling.

Fungal nails

Toenail fungus is an infection that sets in when a fungal microorganism gets into the tissues under your toenail. The fungus causes your toenails to thicken and turn yellow, starting from the cuticle and spreading outward.

You could pick up toenail fungus from any public place where you remove your shoes and walk barefoot, such as a swimming pool. You can also develop toenail fungus if you have athlete's foot between your toes, and the fungus spreads into your toenails.

Fungal nails can also be very painful, which is why laser treatments, a simple and non-invasive way to relieve pain, can be beneficial to treating fungal nails.
