There are several causes for burning, tingling, or numb feet. One of the most commonly seen causes is peripheral neuropathy, which is nerve damage in your extremities. Neuropathy is frequently seen in people with diabetes, and it results in a loss of feeling in the limbs—especially the feet. You might feel a sensation akin to “pins and needles” or sometimes painful burning. At the same time, neuropathy may prohibit you from feeling the pain caused by outside sources (such as injury). It’s important to check your feet daily, should you suffer from neuropathy, to keep them safe from infection. If you feel a burning or tingling in your feet, you might be feeling the effects of peripheral neuropathy.
